The iconic Joe Louis Arena will be demolished soon as plans are moving forward to tear down the almost 40 year old arena. According to the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit Building Authority has said that they will be starting the demolishing of the famous arena in the next 4-6 weeks.  The demolishing should take a while, due to the crews needing to be careful  since the location of the arena is downtown, but the demolishing should be done by early 2020.

The demolishing will also take a while due the crews first demolishing the inside then moving to the exterior of the building. This is almost like the same way the famous Pontiac Silverdome was demolished and it also took quite a while. The only difference between this demolishing and the demolishing of the Silverdome is that there will be no implosion for the Joe. So if you managed to win anything in an auction or buy a piece of the Joe when they were selling it last year, hold on to it cause it will mean more when the famous building is gone.
