Jennifer Lawrence is a household name, but it hasn't always been that way. The Academy Award-winning actress visited Howard Stern's SiriusXM radio show on Wednesday (February 28) to talk about her new film, Red Sparrow, and divulged some interesting information during the interview.

"Emma Stone and I had this conversation once, 'cause we used to always audition for the same thing," she told Stern. "She got one thing that I was dying for, but the one thing that really killed me — the only time I've ever been truly devastated by losing an audition — was Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland."

The actress that ended up playing the titular role in the 2010 film was Mia Wasikowska, who Lawrence praised. "She was perfect and amazing, and I couldn't have had a British accent."

On the flip side, there was one role the 27-year-old is happy she didn't get: Twilight.

"I didn't really know what it was," she admitted. "You just get, like, five pages, and they're like, 'Act, monkey!'" When the movie eventually came out she considered herself lucky for not getting casted.

However, the young actress did get a role that many could only dream of: the lead in Hunger Games. The role of a lifetime was bittersweet for Lawrence, though, who was happy with flying under the radar.

"I had such a solid indie career at that point, that I was like, 'This is perfect. I get to act and I'm not famous,'" she said. "I knew it was gonna be a life-changer, and the other fear was only being known for that character."

Clearly that wasn't a problem, as Lawrence has gone on to play all kinds of different, complex characters. Listen to the clip below.
