East Lansing Gets a New Bagel Shop After Sudden Closure
This bagel transformation in East Lansing happened so quickly, the foodies might still have whiplash...
A New Bagel Place is Open in East Lansing
It seems that we have another spot to add to the ever-growing list of restaurants opening in the Greater Lansing area: Einstein Bros. Bagels.
Einstein Bros. Bagels serves exactly what the name says—bagels—and a whole lot more; cream cheese, smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, muffins, sweet treats, and more.
It just opened its doors on Grand River Avenue in East Lansing this week with the official grand opening having taken place on May 2.
From Bruegger’s to Einstein Bros.
This new bagel and breakfast shop opens in the former location of Bruegger's Bagels (see what I mean about the bagel whiplash?), which just closed on March 20, 2026. At that time, a note was posted to the door saying that Einstein Bros. Bagels would be taking over the space. But, there was no word on when.

If you're sad because Bruegger's Bagels is gone and that was your go-to spot, there is a little bit of a silver lining. Bruegger's Bagels and Einstein Bros. Bagels are owned by the same parent company, so... they serve a lot of similar items. Plus, I hear they have a larger bagel selection. I'm sure you'll be able to find something to satisfy your hunger.
More Restaurants Are Opening Across Lansing
Einstein Bros. Bagels is the latest in a long line of restaurant openings for 2026. So far, over 15 restaurants have opened their doors, and there are about a dozen more on the way. If you want to see what other restaurants are coming to Lansing, check here.
