Michigan’s First Chicken Guy! Restaurant from Guy Fieri Abruptly Shuts Down

Well, that didn't last long. A little over a year after opening, Michigan's first Chicken Guy! restaurant from celebrity chef and restaurateur Guy Fieri has permanently closed its doors.

The first Chicken Guy! restaurant in Michigan opened in at 30130 Plymouth Road in Livonia in April of 2023. The restaurant chain features chicken tender dishes and chicken sandwiches paired with a huge selection of sauces created by Fieri, as well as milkshakes.

At the time, it was reported that at least 19 more Chicken Guy! restaurants would be opening up in Michigan... we did get one. A Chicken Guy location did open up inside Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant.

Sunday, June 30 was Chicken Guy! in Livonia's last day in business.

The Tomey Group owns and operates Chicken Guy! in Michigan. In a statement to WXYZ, they called the decision to close difficult, saying,

The decision is driven by unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. We are incredibly grateful for the patronage we have received from our loyal customers and the local community, and for our team members and partners who have supported us through this journey. We are dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition for our team members and have offered opportunities within our other businesses.

At this time, Chicken Guy! in Mt. Pleasant remains open.
