Watch out, if you live in the Jackson-Area or if you are going to be lighting up some fireworks this year, as the fireworks rules have changed. According to WILX, the Jackson fireworks rules are new, as of April, as the rules changed statewide in December 2018 by former Gov. Snyder.

The new rules are more focused on the number of days you will be able to shoot off fireworks or large scale fireworks. The old rules used to be you can shoot off fireworks from the day before to the day after national holidays, but the schedule has changed. The new rules will have citizens of Jackson be allowed to shoot off fireworks on these days;  11 a.m 12/31 through 1 a.m. on 1/1,  11 a.m. until 11:45 p.m. on 629 - 7/4, and 11am - 11:45pm on Saturday and Sunday before Labor Day. Another change is that you will be able to shoot off fireworks on July 5, if that date is a Friday or Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. So since this year July 5th is on a Friday you will get an extra day of fireworks this year. Another note is that you will not be allowed to fire off fireworks on Memorial Day or Labor Day.

The changes were made to help people who have to work after a holiday. Also if you are in violation of using fireworks after or before the times above you can be fined for as much as $1,000. You can see more on the new rules here.
