Jackson Ghost Stories

Growing up in Jackson, I heard my fair share of tall tales and ghost stories.

One that sticks out to me is one story of "Little Mary" who, according to MLive, was a 7-years old when she supposedly died only to be believed to have been buried alive and when they unearthed her grave there were scratch marks on the coffin, confirming that fear. The legend is you can still hear her crying and scratching and some say you can see her floating over her grave.

Another story that freaked me right the hell out was when my third grade class was performing a the Michigan Theatre and some kids were saying there was a woman who had died centuries ago's body up in the rafters where they were going to drop confetti from...can't confirm anything about that one, though the Michigan Theatre is reportedly haunted.

I could go on for days and days but our resident expert on all things spooky in Michigan, John Robinson, has the full list of the 10 most "notorious" hauntings in Jackson.

The tour, called "A Walk Through Jackson's Past" and takes visitors on a guided tour of the city's oldest cemetery, Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

According to WILX, the tour goes over stories of famous families and notable names throughout Jackson's history including Ella Merriman Sharp, the first child born in Jackson that survived to adulthood and more all the way to creating the Cascades Falls!
