If you're a car fan, one of the great things about living near where they build cars is that you get to see the prototype vehicles on the road. The semi-secret stuff gets those crazy, black and white camouflage paint schemes. Closer to production, engineers take them out, drive them around and (apparently) get to take them home - like they're checking out a library book.

And that's what happened Wednesday in Detroit. According to the Detroit Free Press, a GM engineer took one of the new 'Vettes home (or at least parked it) at a spot just four miles from GM headquarters. Thursday morning, it was up on blocks and missing all four tires.

The first production Corvette won't roll off the line until next month, but at least we now know it'll have some sweet wheels.
