It's hard to believe that people are still having the face mask debate.

In all honesty, it's tiresome to be involved in it. You either use them or you don't. And if you're in the latter group, it's going to be hard for you to function outside of your home because of mask mandates.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is telling state agencies to “review allocation of their resources” to prioritize enforcement of COVID-19 safety mandates, including limits on building capacity and the mandate that people wear masks inside Michigan businesses.

That includes suspending the license of businesses that do not comply with mask regulations or other regulations related to COVID-19 mitigation, said the executive directive issued today (Aug. 4th). (MLive)

But let's talk about if you WANT to wear a face mask. For you, your kids, the elderly and sick people in your life.

And while ppe has become more available than it was at the beginning of the pandemic, it's not cheap. Especially for low-income families.

Some stores hand them out for free. But at Speedway, I saw they were charging .99 cents a mask.

A 50 count pack of face masks could run you about $35 - $40.

If you're in Lansing Saturday morning, you can get face masks and hand sanitizer for free. Numbers are limited. Details below.

The Lansing chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the nation’s first historically African-American intercollegiate Greek-lettered fraternity, will distribute 1,000 free disposable masks and hand sanitizer to Lansing residents from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday Aug. 8, 2020 at Kroger grocery store located at 921 W. Holmes Road and at Summer Place Townhomes located at 4901 S. Waverly Road.

The Michigan Chinese American Coalition purchased non-medical masks to donate to the community. Members of Alpha Phi Alpha will practice social distancing while distributing the masks and hand sanitizer to residents. All members of the public are welcome to visit one of the sites to receive a bottle of hand sanitizer and three masks.

(APA Press Release)

Sparrow Hospital has partnered with Alpha Phi Alpha and donated hand sanitizer to be distributed also.

They held this event in June earlier this year. You can see the story from WILX here and some photos from the event below.
