FBI Complaint Detailing Plot to Kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer

Some scary stuff happening in our state. A group of Michigan Militia members are accused of plotting to kidnap Governor Whitmer, and kill other Michigan state officials to overturn our Government. This was said in a criminal statement of facts given to the federal court by the FBI.

MLive reports “According to an Oct. 6 FBI filing in the U.S. District Court Western District of Michigan, 15 militia members from “several states,” including two from Michigan, met in Dublin, Ohio on June 6 to discuss taking violent action against multiple state governments that they believe are violating the U.S. Constitution.... Several members talked about murdering ‘tyrants’ or ‘taking’ a sitting governor. The group decided they needed to increase their numbers and encouraged each other to talk to their neighbors and spread their message," according to the filing. There were five Michigan men charged, and another from Delaware with conspiracy to commit kidnapping. An FBI informant advised that during a meeting in Ohio in June one of the currently detained men said “he needed 200 men to storm the capital building in Lansing Michigan." The goal was to take hostages including the Governor of Michigan for treason. The planned to do this before the elections in November.

Some of the men discussed using Molotov cocktails to destroy police cruisers while attacking the capitol. During a meeting they had in late June one of the suspects charged talked about kidnapping Whitmer from her vacation home. Called it a “snatch and grab.” The FBI says the suspects performed surveillance on Governor Whitmer and her properties in September.

It is quite uncomfortable to think things like this are happening in our own backyard. It is sad that politics are getting this crazy. 2020 is a year we will never forget.
