Did I Really Just Pay $16 Bucks For An Internet Hot Sauce? Yup!
Before you let me have it, hear me out first.
You ever see a product on the internet? In your social media feeds? And they actually throw one your way where you're like, "Yeah, I'm going to click on that".
This stuff has shown up so many times I've lost count.
And I love hot sauce.
And they were marketing it different.
It was fancy. It was decadent. And it wasn't so much about the heat but...
It was a truffle infused hot sauce.
I love hot and spicy stuff. I love Frank's Red Hot. By the gallon.
What you know about Texas Pete?
How about Louisiana Hot Sauce?
And yeah you've got Siracha and Tabasco. All of which I'm fond of.
Oh, and I can't forget Cholula or Tapatio.
But now you're going to throw a $16 dollar bottle of truffle infused hot sauce at me. In a fancy bottle with a fancy cap on it. And from what I understood at the time being, the only way to get it was to order it online?
I even looked on Amazon for it.
Still looking at $15 - $17 bucks a bottle and they even had an exclusive 3 pack featuring the hotter version and a WHITE TRUFFLE HOT SAUCE?!?
This thing was almost $70 bucks. So bump the fact that we're shooting at almost $15 bucks a bottle. The black and red one hit for about that much. The WHITE TRUFFLE INFUSED hot sauce was practically $35 bucks BY ITSELF.
So yeah. That kept me from ordering it. High end hot sauce advertised on the interweb did not impress me and I've fallen for this trick before. And no matter what I ordered it inevitably failed on all counts.
Then today I'm at Fresh Thyme Market in East Lansing and I see this.
It's right in front of me between Texas Pete and Tapatio. And yeah it's $16 bucks.
And yeah, I bought it. Because I didn't have to order it online.
It could have still sucked.
BUT IT DIDN'T.
They weren't lying. This is something different. It's a hot sauce but its not as thin as Frank's or Texas Pete. This is a little thicker and richer.
And the taste?!?
It's got heat but flavor, personality, and depth. The truffle is an awesome addition. It's definitely got a good garlic kick and I want to say almost smoky. It's a hot sauce and more.
I tried it on a tortilla chip and was expecting to be underwhelmed and feeling like a sucka.
I was not and do not.
I had to write an article about it.
I'm going to get the the hotter one. And I definitely have to try the white truffle one too.
Trust your boy here, this one is good to go and worth splurging on at least once. It's gourmet for sure and you'll want to savor every drop of it. I can only imagine what it'll do in your favorite recipes.
This is your new secret weapon if you like hot sauce.
Definitely give this one a shot.
