I don't know about you but the pandemic has changed the workplace. With the aid of technology, we got more of the one thing we definitely didn't want.

Meetings.

Add in this freshly arrived summer heat, another round of "this could have been handled in an email," and you have what derailed my day.

After leaving work so fast I thought I was on the Millennium Falcon, I headed to the one place in town that would help to easy my mind and make me forget about this heat.

Welcome to one of the best ice cream spots in the city. Nestled away in Old Town and conveniently located on the corner of Grand River Ave. and Center Street.

When you've been doing it this long, you have a tendency to know what the people want and like.

And apparently it's their lemon ice cream. According to their Facebook:

Voted Best Lemon Ice Cream in the State of Michigan.

They've been around since 1953 and according to this marker, they exist on the site of a Lansing first.

The site of the first house erected in Lansing in 1843.

Lots of history, lots of flavors, maybe not so much parking.

It's their sense of humor for me.

When the heat is on and you're having an especially bad day, chill...and slide on over to Old Town.

Arctic Corner is now open for the 2021 summer season 12 noon to 9 pm everyday.

Get there early. There's usually a ridiculous line but they are fast and friendly.
