With nearly 2,700 blood drives cancelled throughout the country due to the coronavirus, the American Red Cross is taking a pretty big hit.

According to Mid-Michigan Now, there have been 86,000 fewer blood donations due to the blood drive cancellations which account for 80% of the blood collected by the organization.

The worst part is, this is just the beginning and we know there's going to be even more cancellations which will put so many at risk. For example, someone needing blood after being in a car accident, in need of surgery, and cancer patients.

The Red Cross states there's no reason to believe coronavirus can be transmitted by blood transfusion so, please schedule appointments with the Red Cross today.

To further put your mind at ease, they are obviously taking the precautions at blood drives and reassured the donation process is a safe one.
