The Michigan Attorney General, is sending a warning out to Michigan residents, about a possible imposter scam that is hitting Michiganders across the state, and it is tricking a lot of people.

Scammers are sending calls, emails, as well as text messages, while pretending to be from government or law enforcement agencies. The scam promises bogus medical discounts, threaten penalties, or even try to get you to hand over personal information or money.

These messages will come with links, that once clicked, can cause your computer and even phone to become comprised and give crooks access to your private data.

The simple advice from the Attorney General's office, is don't take that bait. If you get attachments, you shouldn't click on them or open them. And if you aren't expecting to be contacted from a government agent, you should actually follow up directly to those officials numbers, or head to their website..

Communications come by mail, and with proper payment structures. Gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, even mobile payments won't be accepted.
