If you're looking for something to add to your Christmas calendar this year, A Cosmic Christmas is a great option.

The pandemic has shut down or changed a lot of the traditional Christmas activities that my family normally does every year. We are normally really active during December, trying to squeeze as much Christmas into the month as we can. Now that many events have been cancelled, the ones that are happening are extra busy. Luckily we added the Cosmic Christmas Light Show to our calendar a few years ago.

Every year my family has a list of events that we would all like to do during the holiday season. Some are as simple as sit down and watch a Christmas classic, while others involve going to Crossroads or other Christmas events. This weekend our Christmas ring directed us to Cosmic Christmas at Longway Planetarium.

This is one of the more recent events that we've added to our Christmas ring calendar. We actually went to the show a few years ago on a whim after we had dinner in downtown Flint. I wasn't quite sure what to expect going into the night, but we were all thrilled we decided to do it by the end of the show. There are a couple of things I should tell you before showing a few of the pics from the show.

  • Buy your tickets in advance. Normally tickets are not that hard to get, but with everything getting cancelled, more people are flocking towards the events that are still on. You can get tickets here.
  • This might not be for you if you get motion sickness easily. The pictures move, and the planetarium is a very surrounding experience.
  • Sit toward the back if you can. The dome is completely covered with Christmas images, but from the seats in the back, you have a better view without having to lean so far back in your seat.

Check out a few of the pics I took from the show, and remember that they don't do the show any justice at all. There's no way accurately describe the show because it is so immersive.
