Three Lansing Area Bars Take a Time Out With a Temporary Shutdown

Before we even start, thanks to WILX for the lead on this story. We did some digging as well and we wanted to state the following:

• These are all self imposed to keep their staff and you safe.
• These are also temporary unless otherwise noted. One location did not have further details on when they were going to reopen.

Two Lansing establishments (next door to one another) and one East Lansing favorite are taking a time out due to Covid-19 related issues. They have not been shutdown by anyone. They are doing it themselves.

Let's start with the two neighbors right by Downtown Lansing.

Moriarty’s Pub in Lansing says none of their staff have tested positive and that this is just a precautionary measure. They will be closed until April 14 but will still offer take-out. (WILX)

Right next door is "Lansing's Oldest Bar", Stober's and they too are taking a self imposed break. However, they don't have a set return date.

Stober’s has decided to immediately close, for a short time. First, we assure those friends who have come to Stober’s that all employees who have been on duty since our cleaning continue to test negative for COVID. We would like to keep it that way. After consulting with our employees we have decided to voluntarily close until we feel comfortable that we can safely serve, and continue to provide a safe environment. (Stober's)

Finally, let's put on our facemasks and head to East Lansing.

Crunchy's in East Lansing is taking Good Friday and Easter Weekend off. Again self imposed and no need or cause for alarm. They'll be back Monday, April 5th.

The Governor's current executive order says the number of patrons indoors (or in a designated dining area of a multipurpose venue) does not exceed 50% of normal seating capacity, or 100 persons, whichever is less (Michigan DHHS)

At a time when every business is doing their best to stay open and make money, it's really comforting to know that some businesses are taking precautions for their patrons and workers in the face of adversity.
