To be quite honest with you, I didn't know this guy was still alive and on the run. One of the greatest movies of all time is "Shawshank Redemption" Do yourself a favor and please watch that movie. You will love it. Anyways, according to the Washington Post the man that they based the character on in the movie, was still on the run after all this time. It's been 56 years since he first escaped prison, and he has been living on the DL ever since. Check out the full story, but it's actually kind of impressive. I mean, come on, in this day in age it has to be super difficult to totally disappear off the grid. I feel like that takes some talent.

I don't want to give anything away in the movie if you've never seen it, but the story lines in real life and what you see in the movie are totally different. It seems as if this dude was kind of a pretty bad guy. Where as in the movie you are lead on to feel that this guy was set up and couldn't possibly have done any wrong, so you sort of feel liberated when he is liberated. The guy in real life sounds like he got himself in to a mess of trouble a number of times. Still kind of an interesting story though.
