It's BAAAACCCKKK!

The East Lansing Art Festival is heading your way this weekend in Downtown East Lansing (duh! lol). This festival has grown every year since it's inception in 1964...  for over 50 years artists, performers, and festival-goers have come to Downtown East Lansing to show off their wares or play live music or just enjoy themselves! And you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be there this weekend!

The festival draws so many different kinds of vendors that calling it an "art festival" is a very broad term. Some of the items that I've come across in past years include, but are DEFINITELY not limited to are:

  • Handmade jewelry
  • Paintings & drawings
  • Various body products like lotions and soaps
  • Camping tools
  • Tie dye items galore
  • Sculptures
  • Food
  • And so, SO much more...

The East Lansing Art Festival is a totally free event too, so even if you had no money to spend, you could just people watch and appreciate all the art. Something that's not always free in East Lansing though, is parking. So I would recommend car-pooling or taking the bus or biking or whatever else. Also, keep in mind that some of the streets are going to be shut down as well.

Here's a list of the different street closures to be aware of:

  • Albert Ave.: Closed between M.A.C. Ave. & Evergreen from 5 a.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Sunday
  • Abbot Rd.: Closed between Grand River & Elizabeth from 5 a.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Sunday
  • M.A.C. Ave.: Closed between Grand River & Albert from 5 a.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Sunday.
