Sharing your Netflix password, or any password for that matter, is now considered a federal crime after three judges in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit issued a ruling last week.

Judge Stephen Reinhardt, who was the dissenting judge in a 2-1 decision, said according to Fusion, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and sharing passwords "does not make the millions of people who  engage in this useful, and generally harmless conduct into unwitting federal criminals,"

This ruling came down as result of a lawsuit from 2004, but don't worry if you have multiple people that use the password for only good things then it shouldn't be a problem for you. But you still have to be careful as to who has or knows those passwords and if you think someone might have your password and you don't know them change it.
