Raise A Glass to the Shiawassee River
The Friends of the Shiawassee River are continuing their celebration of their 20th year with the ever-popular Wine Tasting Fundraiser. Everyone who cares about and enjoys the River is invited join friends, family, colleagues and neighbors for a good cause and a great time!
“More than just a night of fine wine and fellowship, the Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser is the primary means of raising the money for our activities and programming,” said Lauri Elbing, Executive Director of the Friends of the Shiawassee River.
Annual memberships and participation in the Wine Tasting sustains the annual river cleanup and water quality sampling programs, as well as our locally based Stream Teams with communities like Byron, Chesaning, Owosso and Corunna.
“This year, the Friends and partners from Holly all the way north to Chesaning and St. Charles are working together to establish the Shiawassee River Water Trail," Elbing continued. "It will be a means of packaging and promoting our region’s most fun and interesting river experiences.”

Guests will receive a commemorative Friends Wine Tasting glass to sample an assortment of wines provided through Main Beverage Company of Owosso. Two special beers will also be offered for tasting. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.
While enjoying fine wine and delicious food, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase last minute Kayak Raffle tickets, place bids in our Silent Auction. The evening will culminate in an exciting live auction for two beautiful pieces of original Shiawassee River artwork by Owosso artist, Linda Beeman and Ovid artist, Tom Tomasek.
