At 97.5 NOW FM we are, as many of you are, heartbroken at the news of Thursday's apparent murder-suicide that left a 6 year old Lansing boy without parents.

After consulting the Department of Human Services and a friend of Kristin Batdorf's, we are asking that all donations be sent to or dropped off at First Presbyterian Church of Lansing.  This is the church Kristin and her son attended.

The church will be open from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.  If you would like to write a check, please make it payable to First Presbyterian Church of Lansing and be sure to note on the memo line that your donation is for the son of Kristin Batdorf.

We want to make sure that we approach our efforts in the best way possible, and ultimately, we want to be sure that the son of Kristin Batdorf will be well-served by our efforts.  By making First Presbyterian Church of Lansing the centralized location for donations, the donation process can be organized and as sensitive as possible.

We've heard from many, many individuals, businesses and organizations that want to be involved in helping and that is AWESOME.  We encourage you to direct your donations to the church, and while any type of donation will be gladly accepted, we'd especially like to encourage financial donations.

We will post updates on any special fundraisers or other events related to this tragedy as we receive them.

On Saturday May 31st, a special Memorial Strum for Kristin Batdorf, who enjoyed playing ukulele, will be held on Saturday from 11am to 1pm at Raynor Park in Mason, 622 E. Ash St./M36.  All are welcome.  Get more information here.

Thank you being the awesome listener community that you are; ready to mobilize to help neighbors and strangers on a moment's notice.

PLEASE check 975now.com frequently for updates.
