Let's be honest. I know why folks are wearing them. I know why I am wearing mine. I have at least 6 or 7.

I wanted to write and ask about those who aren't wearing them. And the people who work in places who have to deal with their anger and backlash.

This past weekend, #boycottcostco was trending on twitter because of their face mask policy. People were pissed and said that they would not shop at Costco anymore because of it.

And violence has indeed broken out because of being asked to wear a face mask in the middle of a pandemic and per local government mandates. We know about the shooting in Flint at the Family Dollar. There have been widespread incidents across the country even at fast food restaurants. And in Oklahoma, a local mayor reversed the mask requirement because people were threatening employees.

Refusal to wear the mask because you don't want to or it's infringing on your rights is one thing. But violence to the point of threatening the people making minimum wage and only doing their job is another.

When I am out getting essentials and I see folks not wearing masks, I have several questions.

This is the world we live in now. The things they are asking us to do are working to flatten the curve. I know folks hated being cooped up inside and having their life inconvenienced. But why the push back so hard on this?

And I see 2 types of people not wearing masks. Folks who legit just don't seem to know better. I saw a mom and her kid the other day. She made sure her kid had a mask on while she wore hers on her wrist like a bracelet just dangling there.

And then there appears to be people being rather defiant and almost looking for a fight or begging for someone to approach them and ask them to put a mask on or leave.

It's one thing to not know that there is a mask ordinance/mandate/requirement to enter most public places. But, we all know that's not the case.

If you're leaving your house, you know this is what's up now.

And threatening someone for asking you to do what has been mandated? Like it's their fault?

Peep the video below from New York. I think the gentleman put it best when he said that the stores have to follow the mandate as there are consequences for not providing employees with masks. But there is no guidance as how you enforce it for the general public.

I just want to know why?

To me, this is just like wearing a seat belt. We have to do that. And they save lives in case of an accident. It protects you and the other drivers. And if the cops see you not wearing one you get a ticket.

Is it just me?
