YMCA in Jackson Set to Reopen September 14
As we all know, gyms across Michigan can start reopening today (Wed. Sept.9) with limited capacity.
That doesn't mean that all gyms are rushing to open their doors right away. For example: The YMCA of Lansing is currently working on phasing in its amenities.
The YMCA was shut down like all other gyms in Michigan back in March to help slow down the spread of COVID-19. As of today, they are allowed to reopen but only at a quarter of normal capacity.
According to JTV.TV, "the Jackson YMCA will reopen downtown on Monday, Sept. 14. Last week Governor Whitmer announced that indoor fitness facilities may reopen on or after Sept. 9, subject to protocols and procedures designed to minimize the spread of COVID-19."
Shawna Tello, CEO of the Jackson YMCA, said in preparation for reopening, the Jackson Y has been following guidelines from health experts and local officials to ensure all components of the facility, including fitness equipment and areas, locker rooms, pool decks, common areas and office spaces are cleaned and sanitized to meet the highest standards for hygiene and safety." The YMCA will phase in additional programs and services in the coming weeks. And you can also check out the new safety procedures in the initial phase.
1. Wellness checks
2. Protective barriers
3. Creating an environment that allows for physical distancing
The YMCA has always been there for people who come together to improve their lives, nurture their families and strengthen their community.
