Just a few years ago, and many years before that, the United States was the home of huge department stores. Now while there are still department stores around, there certainly aren't as many as there were before. A lot of them fell victim to online shopping, mismanagement and more. Others were bought by, or were absorbed into other companies.

Lots of names you knew are now a thing of the past, and I'm sure like me you walk through the malls where these stores once stood so large and prominent or you drive by the big stand alone buildings where they once inhabited and you wonder, "What the heck are they ever going to do with all of that space?". Seems like a pretty tall, unfillable order.

Well in what would be something that a few months ago would've seemed unimaginable, the Auto Center at the now closed Sears Frandor is being used by Sparrow Health System as a site for testing for COVID-19 and for the antibodies for the virus. It's drive-thru style, too, right there in what were once the bays where they would work on vehicles at Sears. This all according to the Lansing State Journal.

I mean, if you ever drove your car to the Auto Center back in the day for repair or an oil change would you have ever in your wildest dreams ever thought that maybe you, or others would roll in there for a medical test of some sort? Especially if it was for a worldwide pandemic? I don't think anyone saw that coming. No way.

Are you or someone you know interested in getting tested? Get more info here from the Lansing State Journal.
