How Michigan Could Be Impacted
These products were sold online, as well as all over the country and through select retailers in states like Illinois, Arizona, and California. Even if you didn't purchase them from stores here in the state of Michigan, it doesn't mean you're safe, especially if you ordered anything online.
Health Risks of Salmonella and Listeria
What are the risks of Salmonella and Listeria? They won't just make your pets sick; they can actually spread to humans who handle the food, bowls, or even surfaces it touches. Pets may show symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and lethargy. Humans can experience nausea, stomach cramps, fever, and diarrhea, with more serious complications in young children, the elderly, pregnant women, or anyone with a weakened immune system.
What You Should Do Now
If you have any of the affected recalled products in your freezer, you should not feed them to your pets. You should toss them out safely, or you can contact Viva Raw for a refund. You will also want to sanitize anything that came in contact with food, from bowls or countertops.
