Vernors is a Michigan go-to. How many times have you reached for a chilled glass of Vernors every time you wound up getting sick?

The History Behind Vernors

The company Vernors got its start in Detroit, Michigan, back in 1866, by a Detroit Pharmacist named James Vernor. Vernors was heavily used back in the day and advertised to help stomach aches, as well as add some spicy flavor to dishes you were making in the kitchen.

If you're looking to enrich your taste buds, Vernors just introduced a fresh, limited-time summer flavor. The Vernors Boston Cooler.

What Is a Boston Cooler?

The release draws upon some Michigan Heritage, which is the classic Boston Cooler float. A creamy, nostalgic treat dating back to the 1800s.

The blend adds in Vernor's signature sweet-spicy ginger kick, with that sweet vanilla, with a bottle twist on the beloved ice cream float. If you really want to take this new treat to the next level, you could pour it over vanilla ice cream, and you've got a homemade Boston Cooler.

Why Now? A Look at Beverage Trends

Keurig Dr. Pepper's 2025 Beverage Trend Report notes that 44% of Americans experiment with new drinks monthly, especially among younger adults. Kevin Schmitz, the brand marketing director, said that the curiosity fuels the drive for new flavor innovation, and when the chance to make a Michigan classic came about, they jumped right into it.

Where to Get It

The limited-edition flavor will be available exclusively in Michigan and Ohio from July to September of 2025. Products include 12-packs, 2-liter bottles, and a single 20-oz bottle, wherever Vernors is sold in these locations.
