Fight In The Michigan Tunnel Makes MSU’s Loss Look Even Uglier
Rivalry games get heated. Tempers flare. Fights happen. That is football. The say sports is life. How you carry yourself in defeat, says a lot about your character. A few MSU players showed little to no character.
The game was a close one in the first half. Things got out of hand for MSU in the second and they lost 29-7. Similar to what happened in the Penn State game, there was a fight in tunnel. As the teams were leaving, after the fourth quarter, one Michigan Wolverine found himself being attacked by three state players.
Zion Young, Itayvion Brown and Angelo Grose decided to get into it with Ja’Den McBurrows. All three of them threw punches. Ja'Den attempted to kick them off while on the ground. Regardless of what was said, it shouldn't have happened. You can watch the video here.
Both coaches commented on the situation. Jim Harbaugh was focused on protecting his players and said, "Ten on one, whatever it was, it was just bad. It needs to be investigated and brought to a conclusion. Our athletic director will make sure that that takes place."
Coach Tucker was also captured in the video link above, but tweeted the following :
The Big Ten is aware and is in the process of gathering info. Again, rivalry games get heated. Tempers flare. Fights happen. Sports is life and maybe that is part of the problem.
The MSU football campaign is not going well. If we are being honest, things have not gone well for MSU for quite some time. The university has been the focus of a lot of negative press. That doesn't mean the student body is bad. That doesn't mean the team is comprised of bad people. The three players used VERY poor judgement and there will most likely be ramifications. The problem is perception. MSU didn't do much for their public perception with this. It is yet another in a line of bad moves. The loss was ugly. How the Spartans look in the aftermath, is even uglier.
