The State of Michigan's list of the lowest achieving 5% of all public schools has been released and includes two Lansing-area schools.  Lansing School District's Attwood School and Gardner Academy, part of the Ingham County ISD, are on the list.

Three schools in the Flint area also made the list; Genesee ISD's Potter School and Northwestern High School in the School District of the City of Flint along with Westwood Heights' Hamady Middle School are also on the list.

Many of the schools on the list are in the Detroit School District.  Controversy surrounds the Governor's decision not to close those low-performing schools until at least 2019, according to WLNS-TV.

No schools in Clinton or Shiawassee County made the list.
