So every year around the holidays scams start to come up and according to the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, the jury duty scam is back.

Officials are warning residents of a phone scam where the caller states that he/she is from the sheriff’s office and says that the recipient of the call has missed jury duty and needs to send money immediately to avoid being arrested or having a warrant executed. According to police, some callers request credit card numbers, money orders, or Green Dot cards for payment.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind residents that they DO NOT call persons with warrants for their arrest or request money to avoid arrest. So don't send money or give up your personal credit or debit card info if asked and instead if you get a call like this officials say to tell the caller you know this is a scam and hang up and alert authorities if the calls continue.
