If you were expecting Joel and Benji Madden’s latest music project, the Madden Brothers, to sound anything like Good Charlotte, well, you’re in for a surprise!

The Madden twins have released the video for their debut single as the new music duo the Madden Brothers. ‘We Are Done’ has a cool, sunny sound reminiscent of ’70s pop. If that beginning guitar riff doesn’t remind you of Queen, then the choir-like chorus definitely will.

The music video for the tune is a big mishmash of ideas. Joel and Benji perform the new single in an empty warehouse, looking much like the pop-punk rockers they were in Good Charlotte. They’re joined by a gospel choir clapping along in front of a wall painted with an American flag, and later by a slew of diverse characters looking forlornly at the camera. They hold up signs that read ‘Done’ followed by positive messages such as ‘Being Alone,’ ‘Being Objectified,’ ‘Being Enslaved’ and ‘Being Invisible.’

‘We Are Done’ will feature on the Madden Brothers’ first studio album ‘Greetings From California,’ set to debut in October of this year. It’ll be interesting to see how their new sound plays out on an entire album!
