The weather was not friendly on Friday but it's alright because the lighting of the State Christmas Tree is rescheduled for tonight, Tuesday night, in Downtown Lansing.

The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. at the State Capitol Building. The lighting of the tree was scheduled to happen Friday Night at Silver Bells but it was canceled due to heavy rain and lightning right around the beginning of the of the festival.

Tonight's ceremony will include caroling and a countdown before the switch is flipped on the big tree. Local artist Taylor Taylor and Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero along with BWL General Manager Dick Peffley are going to be there to help light the tree.
