Taylor Swift Reportedly Fires Backup Dancer Over Sexist Instagram Posts
Let Taylor Swift serve as evidence: You mess with the snake, you get the fangs.
Swift, who's currently out on her Reputation Stadium Tour, has reportedly fired longtime backup dancer and friend Kim "Toshi" Davidson after confronting him about a series of sexist Instagram stories he'd posted. According to The Sun via Yahoo!, Davidson posted a meme to his account mocking Australia's women's soccer team and insisting its members needed to return to the kitchen. Another post "featured the words 'every girls weakness' above pictures of chloroform, a van, and the woods."
Davidson's Instagram account has since seemingly been deleted, and he hasn't tweeted since May 25. Fans first noticed that Davidson wasn't performing with Swift at a festival over the weekend, and The Sun reports that he was finally given his pink slip when Swift confronted him backstage at a show.
"Taylor is livid and seriously disappointed with Toshi's social media posts," a source told The Sun. "She has considered him one her closest friends on the road after recruiting him for her 1989 tour back in 2014. And she even donated thousands to his nephew Ayden, who sadly lost his life, to help with cancer treatment."
"But she feels his posts were absolutely unacceptable, especially in the current climate of the #MeToo movement," the source added. "She feels she simply cannot endorse this behavior and to do so would be setting a bad example to her fans."
