What Happened on the Hot Mic
Ingham County's emergency dispatch is better known for conveying urgent, life-saving information to our first responders here in Mid-Michigan. This time, maybe not an emergency, but the emergency everyone needed to know.
Colleagues React and Respond
A dispatcher let a hot mic catch a surprising moment that we can all now laugh at. While operating during a non-emergency, the dispatcher accidentally left their microphone on and read the breaking celebrity news: "Taylor Swift is engaged." The remark immediately sparked laughter from their colleagues, and it may be one of the best “hot mic” situations we’ve ever seen!
Why This Moment Went Viral
Now, this specific channel isn’t feeding directly to the public, but Ingham Dispatch did share the clip documenting the blooper, which quickly made its way to several different media outlets.

The Power of a Lighthearted Moment
To be clear, the operator who said that Taylor was engaged wasn’t aware that their microphone was even on, but those on the line were quick to let her know it had been left open.
The funny part is hearing, “Yeah, aren’t you happy about Taylor Swift?” along with the laughter in the background from everyone at Ingham County dispatch. We even hear her say, “It’s a big ring.”
