Corunna Police were first on scene to a crash involving a State Police Cruiser on Vernon Road early Thursday morning. The crash, said to have occurred when the deputy lost control after hitting railroad tracks, sent the car rolling into the yard of a house just south of the village of Vernon -- nearly striking the home.  The officer was reportedly responding to a call.

The officer was transported by ambulance but is said to be doing well, having suffered only scratches.

A person with knowledge of the situation but not able to speak officially told Corunna Now the officer involved is new to the department.
