St. Johns Middle School Joins the Online Learning Process

According to the Lansing State Journal, St. Johns Middle School will move to online learning for the next two weeks after a student tested positive for COVID-19.

This just adds to the growing list of schools moving to online learning based on more cases of coronavirus too close to home.

"St. Johns Middle School students will switch to remote learning until Oct. 19. Due to COVID-19, several staff members and students are quarantined because of potential exposure to the virus." (LSJ)

At this point, in person classes will resume on Monday, October 19. Before staff and students return, the school will implement enhanced cleaning protocols throughout the building.

St. Johns Middle School is the latest school that's shifted online after a COVID-19 case was found.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has reported seven outbreaks in Greater Lansing schools.

When you break everything down, here's how the area stands with a few of the school related outbreaks since Sept. 28. (LSJ)

Alma Luce Road in Gratiot County. 31 cases, both students and staff.

St. Martha's School in Ingham County. 8 cases, both students and staff.

Michigan State University. 1,295 students

Olivet College in Eaton County. 2 students

Carson City Elementary in Montcalm County. 6 cases, both students and staff.

Everyone can have their own opinion when it comes right down to it, but I think we should have stayed strictly on an online learning time table based on all these coronavirus cases showing up all over Michigan.
