It is probably the worst thing to be affected by a recall… soap. A recall was just announced for several different soap brands, cleansers, as well as lotions here in the state of Michigan.

DermaRite Industries just pulled the plug on a bunch of their products after they found a dangerous bacterium called Burkholderia cepacia complex, which could lead to life-threatening sepsis, especially for those with weakened immune systems.

Even those who have health issues or minor cuts could end up with infections. You should double-check your bathrooms, as this one could be serious.

Some of the items that were recalled and are on the list include:

  • DermaKleen lotion soap

  • KleenFoam antibacterial foam

  • DermaSarra anti-itch lotion

  • PeriGiene antiseptic cleanser

The products were distributed to multiple places, including hospitals, care homes, and stores across the United States.

As of right now, there haven’t been any reported illnesses related to this recall, but DermaRite is playing it safe. They reached out to distributors and consumers, asking them to inspect and destroy any of the affected products. If you have any symptoms related to these products, you should reach out to the FDA.

If you have one of these products, toss it immediately. If you or someone you know starts to display symptoms, such as fever, fatigue, or even just feeling off, reach out to your doctor immediately.
