On August 31st, J Robin and Jonathan Langley shared a devastating story and accompanying photos of racism and hate in mid-Michigan.

"This is 2016, this is in the North, this is my freakin' middle class neighborhood..." J. Robin wrote about photos of cars, homes and other property in a Grand Ledge neighborhood painted with racial slurs and offensive images.

WARNING: THESE IMAGES CONTAIN OFFENSIVE WORDS AND IMAGES AND MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR ALL AUDIENCES.

"Our hearts, our hopes and our reality are irreparably harmed."

J. Robin wrote of the impact on her 22 year old daughter.  "How do you erase the pictures from my child's mind, my children, who we so carefully raised understanding the past but hoping and trusting in the future?  I can't!"

J Robin and Jonathan Langley's property was not damaged, but thousands in our community -- myself included -- join them in shock and grief over this evidence of hate at home.

On the same day that this truly tragic event occurred, the Black Eyed Peas and more than 40 other artists and celebrities partnered for the release of a brand new version of the Peas' 2003 hit "Where Is The Love?"

Some might call it "coincidence."  My father would call it "Providence."

The new anthem, "#WHERESTHELOVE," featuring artists of all ethnicity and background, directly takes on the issues that we're facing right now in our nation and in our very own community, and goes right to the heart of the issue.

"Father, Father, Father, help us, send some guidance from above, 'cuz people got me questioning, Where Is The Love?"

I've spent some time being annoyed by the recent news of Kaepernick.  But maybe he's doing the thing that we all should be doing when it comes to the future of our nation -- falling to our knees.

As the song says and as it is Written, "If you never know love then you never know God."

Praying for our nation.  Praying for our community.  #WHERESTHELOVE
