School Closing: Northwest Community Schools Jackson/Social Media Threat

Northwest Community Schools Jackson are closed today (Friday). No childcare. No preschool.

The closing stems from a threat made via social media where a student threatened gun violence.

According to a post from Geoff Bontrager, Ed.S., Superintendent on the Northwest Community Schools Facebook page, a high school student threatened to "shoot up the school". The complete statement and the post itself is below.

"I just want to send out a message to make you aware that a high school student has stated to “shoot up the school” on Friday through social media. The NW Admin Team, Blackman Police Dept, and Jackson County Sherriff’s Dept are actively pursuing the situation to apprehend... I will send out another message when the situation is contained."
