If you're like me and you've lived in the Midwest for a majority of your life, you've probably been asked some of the same questions. Like why do we call soda, "pop." Or why do we say "Ope, let me sneak right past ya" instead of "excuse me" when we need to reach for something at the grocery stores.

Some of the questions I was asked when I moved to Florida literally made me shake my head. Like this one for example...

Apparently this dude had never seen a map of the United States before. I'm sorry to inform you, sir, but Canada is its own country with ten provinces and Michigan is not one of them.

Before we jump into the questions that Midwesterners need to answer, let's back track so we know what states we're talking about. The states that make up the Midwest are Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

So, I stumbled across this article from Buzzfeed, and we need to talk about it because not only are some of them hilarious, but because I also need answers.

I don't know about you, but I don't say "melk." In fact, there's this hilarious video on YouTube from Julian Smith that my brother and I quote all the time because everyone in the video is arguing about how "milk" is pronounced.

I have absolutely no explanation for this one, but I can't stop laughing. I feel like I might be one of the only people that doesn't own something with camo on it.

Maybe we all have a fear of heights? What's it to ya. I really can't answer this question either because I have done this so many times. My family and I are going to Tennessee later this year and we're driving because it's "only 8 hours."

We just do. Most of us don't even know why. Next question please.

My only explanation is that we're over the cold already. We all feel like January is two months long and hope February isn't brutal, but it usually is.

Because we endure six-ish months of freezing cold weather and we need a little bit of paradise in our lives. Mind your business!
