Pure Michigan Campaign Celebrates 15 Years
Probably the best tourism campaign in the country is celebrating it's 15th year. The 'Pure Michigan' advert is commemorating its 15th year by releasing limited edition Michigan prints.
Brian Walline is an artist from Ann Arbor who was tasked with creating the artwork. Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan stated that Travel Michigan has joined forces with Mighty Mitten to showcase the beauty of Michigan. The vintage-style illustrations are inspired by W.P.A National Parks posters. Lorenz told Fox 17,
"Summertime in Michigan is a truly wonderful time to get out and explore the Great Lakes state. From unmatched outdoor destinations to bustling city settings, from the northern tip of the Upper Peninsula to the southern border of the mitten, there is something here for everyone to enjoy."
The featured designations include:
- Mighty Mac
- Pictured Rocks
- Sleeping Bear Dunes
- Detroit
- Grand Rapids
- Lake of the Clouds
10 percent of all proceeds from the sale will be donated to Michigan Cares For Tourism. The money raised will be used to help restore historic, cultural and natural attractions throughout the state. Brian Walline, the designer who created the artwork said of the prints,
"The Pure Michigan campaign is part of what inspired me to begin thinking about my love for our state and how I wanted to try to express it. I can’t really sing, so drawing scenes inspired by old National Parks posters seemed more my speed."
He added that he is attempting to represent the range and diversity of our state’s beauty and wonder.
