Today is primary day around the Mid-Michigan area and there are elections for Mayor, City Council, and millages, but also it means low voter turnout.

Lansing voters will see tons of candidates for Mayor and City Council so voting will help to get the field down to a few. There are 5 candidates for Mayor and 24 for city council, so your vote will matter as it will narrow the field down to two candidates per seat.

The City of Jackson has the same thing as well as there are several city council spots up for grabs for the 1st, 3rd and 5th Wards. There are also road millages for both Pulaski and Summit Townships.

In addition, voters in Meridian Township will vote on a property tax increase that will support EMS, police and fire. Also just a note, Tuesday will also be the last day to turn in your absentee ballot.
