Pizza Hut to Close 500 Dine-In Stores
So here's another closing. This time it's from Pizza Hut who announced they are closing nearly 500 of their dine-in stores. Now, they will still have about 7,000 stores/restaurants in the U.S after the closing. According to today.com, the reason for the closing is because Pizza Hut is moving away from the dine-in restaurants and toward delivery/carry out stores only. Sorry if you were going to plan on having a birthday party there in the future. There are 6,100 traditional restaurant-style Pizza Huts in the U.S. and 1,350 express units, so some of these restaurants may change too.
The company hasn't announced which stores will close, but if there is a dine-in restaurant near you, it will probably be on the chopping block. I used to love going to the Pizza Hut lunch buffet; it was always hard to find as there weren't that many restaurants that did it. I guess it will be impossible to find one now.
The changes and closings will be happening over the next two years, and you can see more about it here.
