Former Idol winner, Clay Aiken, has made it official in an announcement posted to YouTube today; he's seeking the Democratic nomination for North Carolina's 2nd Congressional District, a seat currently held by Rep. Renee Elmers.

Aiken, 35, has been working as a special education teacher and says that education will be a major focus for him.
