This Saturday was a perfect day for football in East Lansing. Michigan State stayed strong, beating Youngstown State 41-24 in East Lansing to go 3-0 so far in the season. The Spartans made enough plays to pull away.

Early Momentum Shifts in East Lansing

Youngstown State struck first with a field goal, going up 3-0 early. But on MSU's next drive, Rodney Bullar Jr. powered in his first career rushing touchdown to put the Spartans on top.

The second quarter saw Makhi Frazier achieve a one-yard run, as Michigan State stretched its lead 14-3. Then Armorion Smith stepped up with a key interception later in the first half, giving MSU the momentum, and by halftime, they were up 17-10.

Spartans Build Lead Before Halftime

The third quarter had it's own special gem with Omari Kelly's punt return, which helped set up Brandon Tullis to score from four yards out. On the next drive, Chiles, the quarterback, found Michael Masunas on a 28-yard touchdown pass, and suddenly Michigan State was rolling 31-10.

Youngstown State didn't give up, though. Elijah Tau-Tolliver found the end zone from 22 yards out and helped make the final score 41-24.

What’s Next for Michigan State Football

Michigan State's head coach, Jonathan Smith, praised the depth of each moment that proved decisive. MSU now heads to the conference playing on a roll; the next showdown will be with USC on the road.

While there were some moments when Youngstown State was a threat, Michigan State's big plays and timely defense turned the tide.

This team is doing a great job so far this year, and putting a true fire in the MSU fanbase for the future of this team.
