When we last saw pop duo MKTO, they were being kidnapped by a roving gang of outlaw babes in their "Bad Girls" video. Today (July 22), just two days ahead of their Bad Girls EP, they've released a new single called "Afraid of the Dark."

Tony Oller and Malcolm Kelley are back in fine form, and may very well reclaim the Top 20 success they saw with "Classic" with "Afraid of the Dark." The song opens with hip-hop production complete with finger snaps and an "it's goin' down" intro, before adding a reggae-reminiscent guitar. It's in similar sonic territory as Maroon 5's "One More Night," and MKTO's slick sound is certainly aiming for equally heavy radio play.

"Even if you're afraid of the dark / Let's be dangerous, surrender your heart," the boys sing. "'Afraid of the Dark' is a metaphor for 'I can be the light in your darkness' – one of our favorites from the EP," Oller told PEOPLE.

Listen to "Afraid of the Dark" over at PEOPLE now, and tell us how you feel about the boys' new music. Bad Girls EP will debut this Friday, July 24.
