Imagine getting a letter from your healthcare provider. Inside, they tell you that your personal information may have been compromised.

Names, addresses, dates of birth, social security numbers, insurance information, and medical records.

Did you get one of those letters recently? If not, it could be a matter of days. Especially if you live here in Mid-Michigan.

And by the way, this happened back in September. So why are we just hearing about it now?

A computer system that mails bills for some of Mid-Michigan's largest health care providers has been hit with a ransomware attack.

McLaren Greater Lansing is just one customer of Wolverine Solutions Group. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is another.

The company's President says the attack happened last September and affected several servers, one of which contained personal client data. (WILX)

BCBS says about 100,000 Michigan customers were impacted by the breach.

One bit of good news (if we can call it that) is that the information was just encrypted and not stolen off the company's servers. But compromised is still compromised.

Letters started getting mailed out at the end of December and will continue through this month. So if you haven't received one YET, no news is good news right?

Contact your healthcare provider to find out if they are a client of Wolverine Solutions Group and see if your information was at risk.
