Michigan’s Tree Farm Lands White House Gig for 2025

It may be too early to talk about, but we’re doing it anyway, Michigan’s holiday season is officially kicking off, and there’s a major reason to celebrate. Korson’s Tree Farm in Sidney, Montcalm County, just earned the title of National Grand Champion, which means they’ll be supplying the official White House Christmas tree for 2025.

They shared the news in a one-of-a-kind Facebook post:

“We will be supplying the White House Christmas tree this December! A huge thank you to our team…”

This will be the first Michigan-grown White House tree since 1984, and only the third ever. The tree, a towering 18.5-foot concolor fir selected by White House officials, will stand in the Blue Room. The Korson family will be there to see it arrive at the White House by horse-drawn carriage.

Korson’s Tree Farm is no small operation. It spans over 1,000 acres and grows 12 different species of evergreens, cultivated since 1973. Over the years, they’ve won dozens of state and national awards, including Reserve Grand Champion in 2015, which earned them the honor of sending trees to the Vice President’s residence.

Michigan itself is a Christmas tree powerhouse. The state is the third-largest supplier in the country, shipping nearly two million fresh-cut trees every year. From small-town tree farms to large-scale operations, Michigan’s growers send evergreens across the nation to brighten homes for the holidays.

It is a great honor for Michigan to get the spotlight this year, but also great for the Korson family, and getting bragging rights to add to the Michigan collection of Christmas trees at the White House.
