This should come as a delight to anyone that has been apart of the Michigan State Music Program or has heard anything from the Michigan State Band. It was just announced today that Michigan State University is putting a $1 million gift toward expanding and renovating its music facilities.

Some plans for the money include adding roughly 35,000 square feet of rehearsal, practice and performance space and renovating 8,500 square feet in the Music Building and Music Practice Building next door. So far, $9 million has been raised toward the $17.5 million project.

You can read more about the family that is donating most of the money, The Cooks who are the same people that the recital Hall was named for, more here.
