Michigan Is Now 2nd For Most Expensive Car Insurance

I have NOT had good luck with car insurance over the years. I pay more now than I did when I was 16.  When I moved from Florida to Michigan I called my insurance company and let them know, and when I got the new bill it was doubled.  The company I was with obviously did not want to insure me here. I did switch.  5 years ago a major insurance company dropped me with a clean record, because I used my towing 3 times within a year. Really? No tickets, and no accidents and I can't use my towing. It was aggravating.

Here is some good news I guess, Michigan now does not have the most expensive car insurance in the country.  There is a new report from insure.com. Instead, we have the second most expensive. According to fox47news.com Michigan has had the highest rates for 7 years, but after auto insurance reforms, the prices dropped enough for Michigan to move into second place.

Who Came In First?

Louisiana is now the highest, they can have the honor as far as I am concerned. Check this out, the average there is $2,839 per year. Michigan comes in 2nd at  $2,112 per year.

This report from insure.com adds to the mounting evidence that no-fault reforms are working and saving Michigan drivers money,” Erin McDonough, executive director of the Insurance Alliance of Michigan, said in a release. “There are still plenty of Michiganders who haven’t renewed their auto insurance since the new law took effect, which means Michigan’s rates could be even lower by this time next year.

The rate dropped 27 percent in Michigan. I always shop around for the best rate every year and everyone should.  It does pay to compare quotes from different companies.  Let's hope it keeps dropping in Michigan with all the changes we have seen in the last few years.
