Hartford Bakery, which is based in Indiana, just voluntarily recalled nearly 900 loaves of its "Lewis Bake Shop Artisan Style 1/2 Loaf" bread.

Why The Recall?

Some of their loaves may contain hazelnuts, which aren't clearly listed on their ingredient label. There is a generalized warning about tree nuts; it never specifies hazelnuts, which could be a major issue for those with nut allergies.

Where It Was Sold

The bread had been sold at Walmart and Kroger locations in Michigan, and the recalled loaes will have a lot code of 241 through 246. The laoves will also have a Best By date of July 1st thru July 5th. If you have any of the affected products in your pantry, you may not want to take any chances, especially if you have any allergies.

You can simply toss the product or return it for a full refund at the store where you made the purchase.

Sicknesses Related To The Recall

So far, only a few customers have actually found whole hazelnuts in the bread. Thus far, only one person has reported getting sick after eating the product. As of now, there have been no severe reactions related back to the product.

If you have any questions, you can reach out to Hartford Bakery directly at 812-425-4642 for any questions.
