In accordance with Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order, all Secretary of State offices are closed until further notice to slow the spread of the coronavirus and protect public health.

Customers can complete many transactions using online services and can make an appointment for a future visit (subject to cancellation). (

Restrictions, such as insurance requirements, that would typically require someone to visit a branch in person have been lifted. Late fees have also been waived. (WDIV)

The SOS has also been preparing for people to Vote By Mail in the upcoming election.

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is seeking election workers to support elections amidst the coronavirus crisis. The May 5 local elections will be conducted primarily by mail, but election workers are needed to process and count ballots and staff clerk offices. (
